The medieval Festung Hohensalzburg [Hohensalzburg Fortress], which stands on a hill overlooking the old town, offers students a historically charged ambience to work in. The studios are in the former grain store within the fortress precinct.

 

Accessibility
The classes in the fortress can be reached on foot from the Nonnberggasse, Kaigasse and Festungsgasse, or by the funicular railway from the station in the Festungsgasse (old town). The Festungsbahn (funicular) runs at 10-minute intervals daily, 9 am–9.30 pm. Tickets (daily, weekly and monthly) are on sale at the entrance (at students' own expense). The fortress is not accessible to people with impaired mobility.

Steinbruch Untersberg

The Steinbruch [quarry] Untersberg in Fürstenbrunn which is commercially operated by Marmor Kiefer is located at the foot of the Untersberg, to the south of Salzburg. Classes in the quarry offer students a combination of working and living in natural surroundings. Students and teachers generally live and work together in the former workers' housing, with a large dormitory for the students. Catering is organised communally in the kitchen and dining premises.

 

Dormitory accommodation: € 7.– per night.

 

 

Accessibility
Fürstenbrunn is a part of the town of Grödig, about 10 km south of Salzburg. You can reach it by bus no. 21 (approx. 30 min. from Salzburg) followed by a 15-minute walk.

 

There is a small showroom on the ground floor of the main house.
