The 2020 Summer Academy is On in a reduced version

  • 18 May 2020

In the present circumstances, the 2020 International Summer Academy is reduced to two weeks.

Instead of the originally planned 19 courses, now 11 will be held, on site, online and hybrid ( a combination of the two). There will be five course in Hohensalzburg Fortress (three of them hybrid), the course in the Fürstenbrunn quarry will run for the full four weeks, and five courses are offered exclusively online.

The compressed version of the Summer Academy is due to the current circumstances, which will not allow all teachers and potential students (25% from outside Europe) to come to Salzburg in the summer. In addition, hygiene regulations demand reduced numbers in each classroom.

New Horizons The 2020 motto New Horizons is more relevant than ever; never before has the Summer Academy organised online or hybrid courses. The criteria for the format of each course were dictated by the content. Classic artistic media such as painting, sculpture, etc. will be held on site (although they may also be offered as hybrid, if teachers so wish). Art forms which exist digitally and in social media (photography, video) and theoeatical courses can be held exclusively online. The teachers made the final decisions on what format their courses should take. The on-site conditions in the Fürstenbrunn quarry allow the entire four-week course to be held.
