The starting-point for our shared activities will be a film, in which all participants will be asked to identify an individual key scene. The ideas put forward will serve to trigger an in-depth series of works focusing on the possibilities of personal approaches and diverse forms of implementation.

One-to-one and group discussions will deal with questions of finding and realising images, individual style, and diverse possibilities of different techniques, as well as resultant questions of personal positioning within the art world. Techniques of colour-mixing, grounding, and handling brushes, palette knives and additional makeshift material from nature will be dealt with specifically. The course focuses on the working process, and will conclude with a presentation of works selected by the group.
Hubert Scheibl belongs to the generation of painters who created an international furore during the 1980s in what was known as “wild painting”. Since then, he has continued to develop his varied oeuvre, alternating between total abstraction and the use of figurative elements. He positions his work within a wide range which includes not only painting, but also photography, film, trash and everyday cultural phenomena.
