The principles of printmaking were always important for Krystyna Piotrowska's creative method, not only as techniques but also as an ideology.
The idea of duality, of leaving traces, of presence, of the plate and the print, of mirror reflections and multiplication has been the basis of many of her works and has had an impact on her films and installations. Her lecture will focus on these interrelations.
At the 2010 Summer Academy Krystyna Piotrowska is directing the class Print it Again in Hohensalzburg Fortress.
Krystyna Piotrowska was born in Zabrze, Poland, in 1949. She works as a printmaker, installation artist, photographer, video artist and curator. Her work touches mainly upon issues of identity and memory. She lives and works in Warsaw.
