The mediaeval Festung Hohensalzburg [Hohensalzburg Fortress], which stands on a hill overlooking the Old Town, offers students a historically charged ambience to work in. The studios are in the former grain store within the Fortress precinct

Monday - Friday 9.30 a.m. - 9 p.m., Saturday 9.30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Accessibility
The classes in the Fortress can be reached on foot from the Nonnberggasse, Kaigasse and Festungsgasse, or by the funicular railway from the station in the Festungsgasse (Old Town). The Festungsbahn (funicular) runs at 10-minute intervals daily, 9 a.m. - 10 p.m. Tickets (daily, weekly and monthly) are on sale at the entrance (at students' own expense). The Fortress is not accessible to people with impaired mobility.

A shop for the sale of artists’ materials will be open for Summer Academy students.

The Fortress restaurant "Die Burgschenke" is next to the Summer Academy.
