Festung Hohensalzburg

The mediaeval Festung Hohensalzburg [Hohensalzburg Fortress], which stands on a hill overlooking the Old Town, offers students a historically charged ambience to work in. The studios are in the former grain store within the Fortress precinct.

Studios are open:
Monday - Friday 9.30 a.m. - 9 p.m., Saturday 9.30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

The classes in the Fortress can be reached on foot from the Nonnberggasse, Kaigasse and Festungsgasse, or by the funicular railway from the station in the Festungsgasse (Old Town). The Festungsbahn (funicular) runs at 10-minute intervals daily, 9 a.m. - 10 p.m. Tickets (daily, weekly and monthly) are on sale at the entrance (at students' own expense). The Fortress is not accessible to people with impaired mobility.

IVO HAAS provides a shop for the sale of artists’ materials for Summer Academy students.
Opening hours: Monday - Thursday 9.30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Lunch in the "Taverne"
Lunch from Hermann-liefert is served from Monday to Friday in the "Taverne", about 200 meters next to the Summer Academy. Please order by 2 p.m. for the next day via this Order-form, where you see the weekly menu. Meals are served from 12.30 – 1.30 p.m. in the "Taverne". All meals are vegetarian and made fresh. Hermann-liefert uses mainly organic ingrediens from regional producers. Moreover everything is made in their own kitchen down to the bread and buns. No artificial flavours and colouring. Each lunch costs € 5,40. The payment is accepted on site and in cash.
