Which images attract and fascinate us, and which do not? Why do we associate painting with certain longings? Is painting outdated? Do I want to fulfil a deep-felt need with a painting? How do I get the necessary energy into a painting? What is a picture all about - and what does painting mean today

The course is intended for artists who wish to explore and expand their pictorial vocabulary and their manner of viewing images, and who want to achieve the technical ability to render a concept intuitively. How can we over- come fears and abandon our preconceptions?

We will concentrate on perception and visualisation, developing and training individual concepts for implementing ideas. During the first week we will walk into the town with a view to honing our ability to observe and analyse our surroundings, and to become aware of various methods of creating images. Participants will be encouraged to recognise step by step their individual abilities and to render these in pictorial language. Different possibilities for design and questions of technique and content, tricks and effects, will be discussed individually and in groups, together with strategic questions of how to become established in the art world.
